CERN’s CAFEIN® Platform developed within TE wins the Global Digital Economy Lighthouse Award 2026.

CAFEIN® is CERN’s federated artificial intelligence platform, developed within TE-DPS to enable secure, privacy-preserving, and scalable collaboration on machine-learning applications across multiple institutions.

Selected as one of 13 Lighthouse Award winners from 308 submissions, the award was presented at the recent AI for Good Global Summit. CAFEIN® was descibed as a lighthouse example of “data stays, AI collaborates”, with its uniqueness lying not only in its federated learning technology but also in the way it combines CERN’s institutional trust, open science principles, GDPR compliance and multilateral governance into a trusted AI collaboration framework.
